Bonne Maman's advent calendar sits on the same Amazon product page year after year, so the reviews you're reading span several different editions, and once the official seller runs out, third-party sellers start offering leftover stock from previous years through that same listing.
Two things to check, and they take about five seconds. The title should say 2026. And under the buy box it should say sold by Andros North America, which is Bonne Maman's own US company. If a marketplace seller's name is there instead, you're probably looking at last year's flavors at this year's price, or worse, above it.
Twenty-four one-ounce jars of spreads made only for this calendar, each one individually gift-wrapped in its own numbered box rather than hidden behind a cardboard flap. The flavors don't exist on any shelf: Mango with Ylang-Ylang, Peach and Blackcurrant with Sichuan Pepper, Lemon with Lavender, Milk Caramel with Dark Chocolate. Read enough of the negative ones and they're all the same review. Nobody says the jam is bad. What they say, over and over, is "this isn't the jam I wanted." They bought a Bonne Maman product expecting Bonne Maman flavors, the strawberry and the raspberry and the marmalade they've had on toast for twenty years, and what they opened was Mango with Ylang-Ylang and Peach with Sichuan Pepper.
So the reviews aren't really rating quality. They're sorting people. If the phrase "Pineapple with Lemon Verbena" makes you curious, this is one of the great food gifts. If it makes you think "I'd rather just have strawberry," you'll spend $56 being mildly disappointed twenty-four times, and a couple of full-size jars of the regular stuff would have made you happier for a fifth of the money.
The other complaints are smaller but worth knowing: a handful of buyers each year report a duplicate jar or a misnumbered box, and a few found one or two spreads runnier than expected. At roughly 2% of ratings, that's noise rather than a pattern, but it's not zero.

If that's worth the premium to you it's worth it, and if it isn't, no amount of shopping around will fix it, because $55.99 is the price at both places that sell it.
