Here's the thing nobody tells you about dishwashers: a dead one isn't an emergency. A dead fridge is, a dead furnace certainly is, but a dishwasher just means washing up by hand for a couple of weeks. That makes it the one major appliance almost everybody could time properly, and almost nobody does.
The cost of not waiting is real. Buying in the wrong month, at full list, with an expedited install fee on top, runs a few hundred dollars more than the identical machine bought in the right week. That's a lot of money for the privilege of not touching a sponge for fourteen days.

The single biggest appliance discount event on the calendar. Across the top retailers in 2024, appliances averaged 35.4% off over the Black Friday period, and dishwashers sit right in the middle of that. Promotions run most of the month, so shopping early keeps the popular models in stock.
New dishwasher lines arrive in the fall, so last year's stock has to clear. This is also when floor models and discontinued units show up, at roughly 15% off list for a floor model and 30% to 40% for a discontinued line. This window is open right now.
Retailers mark down whatever survived the holidays to free up warehouse space, and Presidents Day falls inside it. Selection is narrower than in the fall, but the prices on what's left are genuinely good.
A dependable mid-year promotion across every major appliance brand, usually with bundle pricing if you're replacing more than one thing at once. Not the deepest cut of the year, but the easiest one to plan around.
The summer counterpart to Memorial Day, and slightly better for built-in models because installers have more availability in July than they do in the run up to the holidays.
