There are so many hair tools on the market right now and I’ve pretty much bought them all. But recently, everyone online is buzzing about the latest trend; the cool air styler. Curling my hair with cool air? Is it even possible? I’ve tried out one of the best sellers right now; the Conair InfinitiPro Cool Air Curler to see if it really is worth it. My verdict may surprise you!
Ready for another episode of, “Is It Worth It…Let Me Work It” where we look at one particular product that’s getting some buzz, we buy it, try it, and let you know if we think it’s actually worth it. Not everything is going to be worth it!
As you know by now, I spend so many hours basically hypnotized on TikTok. So it only made sense I found myself watching countless videos of the cool air curler from Conair. Clearly it wasn’t just me watching these videos as – at last look – videos about this on TikTok has generated more than 120 million video views!
The big selling point everyone talks about is that you can actually curl your hair and style it with a variety of waves by using cool air, which helps to reduce your overall hair damage due to excessive heat from some other styling tools.
Not only can it help to create some amazingly loose curls, but it’s said to help keep them in place for a while. I love the idea of anything that will help keep my hair styled all throughout the day since usually when I try to curl it with a traditional curling iron I basically lose the curls after a couple of hours.
In regards to the selling points of the specific Conair InfinitiPro, here are some high-level points to note:
- There are 3 different heat settings to choose from.
- Plates can heat up to 400 degrees.
- Plates can heat up within the first 30 seconds when turned on.
- Cool air will flow up the barrel to help set your curls without burning your hair.
Well you know I had to get my hands on this. To be clear, the InfinitPro was not given to me in exchange for a review. I actually purchased it myself (I got mine on Amazon for just around $50).
As far as me testing the air styler, here’s what my criteria was – just so we’re all on the same page.
- I purchased this myself and was not given this product in exchange for a review.
- I used it twice per week for one month.
- My hair is not stick straight, but not that curly either.
- I used this myself (no one used it on my hair).
I always read the reviews before I purchase just about anything as I don’t like spoilers. So I was already aware that this cool air curler actually utilized heat and not just cool air to create curls. They are certainly not misleading you, but the overall buzz especially on social media was surrounding the idea of “cool air.” The cool air flow just helps set your curls so that you’re not strictly using heat over and over again.
Like other curling irons, this one is pretty easy to use. You just press the button to choose the heat level you want (low, medium or high) and it heats up pretty quickly. At about 30 – 40 seconds mine was good to go. They state the highest heat level is 400 degrees so, as always, be careful and watch your fingers and scalp. Ouch!
All you have to do it press the button to open up the plates, place a small section of your hair in between the plates and then wrap your hair around the outer part of the barrel and then just gently pull it down. The cool air helps to protect your hair and set your curls for a while.
Overall it didn’t take my long to get used to it and it didn’t take long to style my hair. I was able to easily create loose curls and get more of that beachy vibe when I wanted it too. I liked the feeling and idea of the cool air. And, let’s be honest, it’s a nice change of pace to not smell burning hair in the morning!
Like with every product out there, there are pros and cons. I like to be transparent to let you know what real deal is so you can make more of an informed decision.
Here are some overall pros and cons of the InfinitPro Cool Air Curler.
• It’s really easy to use and somewhat lightweight.
• The cool air feature really is a nice change of pace from traditional heat-only styling tools.
• It heats up quickly and stayed hot for the duration of use.
• I did get some compliments from friends thinking my hairdresser did it!
Let’s not forget about the cons:
• Compared to some other traditional curling irons it can be considered a little pricey.
• At first some of my curls just looked too tight, so it took me some practice time to figure out how to get them to look looser.
• You can’t choose different barrel size options.
Ok, so this is it. When all is said and done, is InfinitiPro really worth it?
It’s the moment we’ve all been waiting for. After using this for a month I actually do think it’s worth it and worth the price. Once I learned the trick of how to get looser looking curls, I really liked how quick and simple it was to use.
To be honest, I’m not really sure how “amazing” the cool air feature is. I like it for sure, but feel like it’s similar to the cooling feature on many blow dryers these days. However, they say the cool air helps to set the cool and make it last longer and I did notice that my curls lasted longer than normal, which was a nice change of pace!
If you’re intrigued, you may want to give this a go. If so, here’s where you can get it.
