The Short Answer
YETI almost never discounts a cooler for being a cooler. It discounts one for being the wrong color. Nearly every genuine markdown you'll find on this brand is a colorway on its way out of the lineup, which means the real question isn't which month to shop. It's which month the retiring colors get cleared. That month is November.
Here's what makes YETI different from almost everything else we track. A refrigerator gets marked down because next year's model is landing. A grill gets marked down because it's Labor Day. A YETI cooler gets marked down because a color is being retired, and that can happen in March just as easily as November.
We pulled every YETI cooler in Amazon's current lineup while writing this. 26 of them. Exactly one carried a discount: the Roadie 32 in Venom, down to $300 from $375. Venom happens to be one of the collections YETI is clearing at 20% off on its own site right now. That's not a coincidence. That's the whole system in a single data point.
Once you see it, the pricing stops looking random. YETI builds a small number of shells and wraps them in a rotating set of colorways, some permanent, most seasonal. The permanent ones, Navy and Charcoal and White and Tan, sit at list price essentially forever, because they're the ones people ask for by name. The seasonal ones get about a year in the catalog, and when the next drop is ready the old shade has to clear. That clearance is the discount. There isn't another one, apart from the two weeks in November when Amazon decides to buy the traffic and eats some margin to do it.
Which means the strategy is simple and slightly annoying: you have to care less about color than you probably do. Two coolers that are mechanically the same part, from the same factory, with the same warranty, can sit $75 apart on the same page because one of them is a shade YETI is finished with. Everything below is about finding that gap on purpose instead of by luck.

When YETI actually blinks, ranked by how deep
Bar widths show how far prices move in each window relative to the best one. None of this needs a code, these are shelf prices.
The one window where the whole catalog moves at once. In 2025 Amazon ran YETI up to 30% off, and the Hopper M soft cooler hit 33%. Retired and limited run colors get folded in alongside the current lineup, so this is both the deepest window and the widest one. It's also the only time of year you can walk in wanting a specific size in a specific color and still expect a discount.
Select colorways land at 25% to 30% off and the popular sizes sell through in hours rather than days. Coverage is narrower than November because Amazon picks a handful of models rather than the range, but the depth on what it does pick is close enough to be worth an alarm. The October event is smaller and skews toward drinkware over coolers.
YETI's own seasonal offers page runs 20% off the collections it's pulling. Cherry Blossom, Firefly Yellow and Venom have all sat there. It's the most dependable discount the brand offers and almost nobody watches for it, because it never gets announced. Stock is whatever is left, so the popular sizes go first and the odd ones linger for weeks.
Whatever November left behind gets cleared before the spring colors land. The selection is thin and picked over and you won't get to choose, but the prices are honest and nobody is competing with you for them. Worth a look if you missed Black Friday and don't want to wait until July.
Retailers who overbought for summer start moving hard coolers to make room for hunting and winter stock. Dick's Sporting Goods and Backcountry are better hunting than Amazon in this window, and the discounts are retailer funded rather than YETI sanctioned, which is why they show up in some stores and not others.
Everyone wants a cooler and YETI knows it. Full price on nearly everything, and the color you actually want is the one least likely to budge. If you see a markdown in June it's almost certainly a colorway being retired early, which is worth taking, but don't expect the calendar to help you here.
