The Best Month to Buy a YETI
Like we mentioned, YETI hardly ever goes on sale – this we know. But there are times where they actually do. If you’re planning on buying directly from the YETI website or an approved retailer, the best month to buy is November. While historically they do not have actually Black Friday or Cyber Monday sales on their own site, there are other approved retailers that do – like Dick’s Sporting Goods, Amazon, and MooseJaw.
However, since the sales are few and far between there are some additional times of the year that our own internal data (we sorted through 6 years of YETI data) highlighted as key months to focus on, along with which retailers are having these sales. Here’s the breakdown:
Mid-Summer (July): Amazon Prime Day typically takes place in July (sometimes they hold a second sale in October) and that’s where we’ll see an extra 25% off some of their best sellers, including a variety of hard coolers, soft coolers, and their popular ramblers. We don’t see these same sales on the actual YETI site, so Amazon is a little gem in the rough.
Pre-Summer (May): Who doesn’t love an anniversary sale? One of the biggest approved retailers of all things YETI is REI. Every May, REI has major anniversary sale where you can get an extra 20% off some of YETI’s biggest sellers. Again, these deals typically aren’t found on YETI’s website so this is a major win.
April & September: One of our biggest finds for amazingly low YETI prices is during Lowe’s Major Clearance Sale. This happens twice per year (April and September) and you can see prices slashed up to 50% off. We’ve seen (in-store) hard coolers, lids, accessories, ramblers, and more. You have to shop early because there isn’t a ton of inventory and once it’s gone – it’s gone.
The Best Approved Retailers to Buy Your YETI
There are plenty of sites out there that claim to have YETI merch at 50% off, but so many of those are counterfeit. So, we put together a list of approved YETI retailers and ones that we swear by. Be sure to check them out for one-off deals during the year.
YETI’s Official Website: Shopping directly from YETI’s official website ensures that you’re getting authentic products and access to the full range of offerings. Plus, YETI occasionally runs promotions or offers exclusive products not available elsewhere – like 25% off their new colors that may be retired soon.
Amazon: As one of the largest online marketplaces, Amazon offers a huge selection of YETI coolers, tumblers, accessories, and more. You can often find competitive prices, user reviews to guide your purchase decision, and fast shipping options through Amazon Prime. HOWEVER, be sure it says it’s either sold by YETI or “shipped and sold by Amazon.” Some 3rd party options are a total scam.
REI: REI is a popular outdoor retailer known for its high-quality gear and super knowledgeable staff. They carry a variety of YETI products and often have sales, discounts for members, and a generous return policy. Pay close attention to RETI during their anniversary sale in May.
Cabela’s and Bass Pro Shops: Both Cabela’s and Bass Pro Shops are outdoor retailers that carry a wide range of YETI products, catering to outdoor enthusiasts, hunters, and anglers. They frequently offer promotions, especially during peak shopping seasons.
Dick’s Sporting Goods: Dick’s is a well-known sporting goods retailer with a significant online presence. They carry a variety of YETI products, and you can often find sales, clearance items, and exclusive deals through their website. Be on the lookout for ramblers and tumblers marked up to 25% off and, at times, certain cooler colors for an extra 20% off.
Moosejaw: Moosejaw is an outdoor retailer known for its quirky brand identity and wide selection of outdoor gear. They do carry YETI and occasionally offer discounts, sales, and special promotions for additional savings.
Walmart: Walmart, especially in-store, carries a range of YETI, including coolers, drinkware, and accessories. While their selection may not be as extensive as some specialty retailers, Walmart often offers competitive pricing and convenient pickup or delivery options.
Ways to Save on YETI When Sales Aren't Happening
If you’re in need of a YETI now and don’t want to wait for a sale, there are still some things you can do to try and save a bit. Sure there’s the one-off YETI coupon for those everyday heroes (which is pretty amazing), but here are some additional tips and tricks to keep in mind.
Off-Season Purchases: Consider buying your YETI cooler during the off-season. In colder months, when outdoor activities are less prevalent, retailers may offer clearance sales to make room for new inventory. This can be an opportune time to snag a deal on a YETIcooler.
Shop Around: Don’t limit yourself to a single retailer. Explore different stores, both online and brick-and-mortar, to compare prices and potential promotions. Sometimes, smaller retailers or online marketplaces may offer better deals than big-box stores. We listed trusted YETI retailers above.

YETI is hardly ever on sale directly from the YETI site, but there are special times of the year when approved retailers hold YETI sales – like November, July, May, April and September. While many of these sales take place online, you can snag YETI merch in-store when there are big sales events from REI (their anniversary sale in May) and Lowe’s Clearance Sale in April and September.
