Is Honey’s Coupon Chrome Extension Really Worth It?

Is Honey Coupon Chrome Extension Worth It

In the never-ending quest for online savings, savvy shoppers are constantly on the lookout for tools that make the process of finding coupons, sales, and all-time-low pricing way easier and more efficient.

JUMP RIGHT TO:

With all the buzz around the Honey Chrome Extension, we’ve decided to kick the tires on it as it’s really emerged as one of the most popular choices – promising to streamline the hunt for discount codes and maximize savings during most of your online shopping sprees.

After using Honey for one-month, we wanted to put together everything you need to know about the Honey extension, including its features, functionality, usage, and whether it’s worth the download or not.

What the Honey Extension All About

Basically, Honey is a browser extension available for Chrome, Firefox, Edge, and Safari that aims to revolutionize the way we, as shoppers, find and apply promo codes while shopping online. Created by Honey Science Corporation (and owned by PayPal), this tool has gained widespread popularity for its simplicity and effectiveness in helping users secure the best deals in realtime.

How Does Honey Actually Work?

Let’s dive into the details of the Honey Chrome Extension, exploring its features, functionality, and usage.

Automatic Coupon Search:  Honey’s primary feature is its ability to automatically search and apply coupon codes during your checkout process from your favorite retailers. Once you’ve added items to your cart on a supported website, navigate to the checkout page. Honey will then scan its extensive database for relevant promo codes, applying the one that provides the maximum discount.  You’ll never have to leave the checkout process you’re currently in.

Price Tracking with Droplist:  Honey’s Droplist feature enables users to monitor the prices of specific items over time. When you add an item to your Droplist, Honey tracks its price fluctuations and notifies you when there’s a significant drop. This proactive approach allows users to capitalize on price reductions and secure the best deals.  Looking for the best price on Apple’s Vision Pro?  This is a great place to start.

Cashback Rewards with Honey Gold:  Honey Gold is Honey’s cashback and rewards program. Users can earn Honey Gold by making purchases through Honey on eligible websites. The accumulated Honey Gold can be redeemed for gift cards from various retailers, providing an additional avenue for savings.

Best Price Finder:  Honey’s “Best Price” feature enhances the user’s ability to make informed purchasing decisions. It compares prices from different sellers, ensuring that you are presented with the most cost-effective options before finalizing your purchase. This feature promotes transparency and helps users identify the best deals available.

How to Use the Honey Coupon Extension

It’s definitely not difficult to use, but here are the steps you gotta take to get this thing working and working to your advantage.

Install the Extension:  Go to the Chrome Web Store and search for “Honey.” Click on “Add to Chrome” to install the extension. The installation process is quick and straightforward.

Setup Your Account:  To access advanced features such as Droplist and Honey Gold, users need to create a Honey account or log in using existing credentials. This step is essential for unlocking the full potential of the extension.

Start Shopping as Usual:  Once Honey is installed and your account is set up, continue shopping on your favorite online stores. When you proceed to the checkout page, Honey will automatically activate and search for applicable discount codes.

Droplist and Honey Gold:  To use the Droplist feature, simply add items to your Droplist and wait for notifications about price drops. Honey Gold is activated by making purchases on eligible websites, and the earned rewards can be redeemed for gift cards.

Is Honey Really Worth It?

Everyone will have a different experience based on their own shopping needs and deals goals, but we used the Honey Chrome Extension during the month of December – knowing that’s when we’d purchase the most online. Here’s our final thoughts.

Ease of Use: Honey’s strength lies in its user-friendly interface. The extension operates pretty seamlessly in the background, requiring minimal user intervention. At first it may be a bit startling until you get used to it – then you’re just used to it being here. The automatic coupon search ensures a hassle-free experience especially when you’re already in the checkout process.

Savings Potential: While Honey doesn’t guarantee savings on every purchase, so many of our purchases did qualify for coupons. There were definitely some smaller retailers who weren’t a part of Honey, so that was a bit annoying, but not really Honey’s fault!

Privacy Concerns: Honey collects data on user shopping habits to enhance its services. However, they do emphasize their commitment to user privacy and security, stating that personal information is encrypted and not sold to third parties. Honestly, we don’t love the potential privacy issues, but that’s basically like every app you download or website you go on, right?

Additional Features: The Droplist and Honey Gold features contribute to the overall value of the extension, offering users additional avenues for savings beyond traditional discount code searches, which was really cool when we were looking to track specific product pricing over the week(s) we tested this out.

Our Final Verdict

Once we got used to it, we ended up really liking the Honey extension.  It was easy to install, we learned how to use it quickly and over the course of all of our Christmas shopping throughout the month of December we ended up saving $212.  It probably could have been more, but some of the sites we shopped on were more niche and not part of Honey’s program.

We feel it’s totally worth it to download, just make sure you’re using it to its full capacity so you’re getting more than just coupons.  It’s a great tool to track product pricing to make sure you’re buying not at an all-time high.

Of course, there are always privacy concerns and what they’re tracking, so if that’s a hot button issue for you we recommend to read their official policy on their own site.  It’s pretty straight-foward.
