Every sale Ulta runs, what each one actually discounts, and a live read on what's open today. The headline is always 50% off. What that 50% applies to changes every single day.
Trendsicle has covered Ulta's sale events every season since 2018, from 21 Days of Beauty through eight years of Gorgeous Hair, Jumbo Love and Love Your Skin. Here's what that record says about which event is actually worth waiting for.
The 50% off lasts 24 hours, not 21 days
Ulta's biggest events run for three weeks, which makes them sound like three weeks of half-price beauty. They aren't. Each day a fresh set of Daily Beauty Steals goes live at midnight Central and dies at 11:59 that night, and a product that was 50% off on Tuesday is back to full price on Wednesday. Miss your day and you wait a year. So the skill here isn't picking the right month, it's knowing which day your brand comes up and setting an alarm for it.
What your Ultamate Rewards tier actually gets you
Ulta's program is free to join. The paid-for-by-spending tiers change three things.
Your points are worth double if you save them
Ulta's redemption chart isn't linear. Cashing in 100 points gets you $3, which is 3 cents a point. Saving until 2,000 gets you $125, which is 6.25 cents a point. Same points, more than twice the value, and the only difference is patience. Most people redeem at the till in small chunks and hand back half of what they earned.

Every Ulta event, in the order it arrives
Bar width shows how deep the discounting goes. confirmed means Ulta published the dates. expected means it recurs on a reliable pattern and the dates move by a few days. projected means we're reading next year off this year.
Which event to wait for, by what you're buying
Ulta runs something almost every month, so the question is never whether to wait. It's which one to wait for.

Four things that change what you pay
Set an alarm, not a reminder
Daily Beauty Steals run midnight to 11:59 PM Central and the popular ones sell out well before that. Ulta publishes the full day-by-day lineup before each event starts, so you can find your brand's day in advance and buy in the morning rather than discovering it at 10 PM.
Shop the 10x points days, redeem in a different month
Member Appreciation and similar bonus-point days multiply what you earn without touching the shelf price. Earn during those, then redeem in a 2,000-point block later. Stacking the earn side and the redeem side is worth more than either alone.
Jumbo sizes only make sense in one window
A liter of shampoo is poor value at list price and excellent value at 45% off during Jumbo Love in early summer. It's the one category where buying a year's supply in a single window is the obviously right move, because the product doesn't go off and the discount doesn't repeat.
Platinum and Diamond skip the threshold on steals
During the big events, Platinum and Diamond members get free shipping on Beauty Steals with no minimum. On a single $12 half-price item that difference is most of the saving, which is why the tier matters more during these events than at any other time of year.
