Extra cost to you
When you buy through one of our links, we may earn a small commission. That commission comes out of the retailer's marketing budget, not your wallet. You pay the same price you'd pay going direct.
What an affiliate link actually is
It's a normal link with a tracking code attached. Nothing about it changes the page you land on or the price you're shown.
STEP 1
You click
A tagged link sends you to the retailer, exactly like any other link would.
STEP 2
You buy, at the normal price
The tag tells the retailer you came from us. It doesn't change your price or your checkout.
STEP 3
We earn a commission
A small cut from the retailer, which pays for the research and testing behind the recommendation.
We work with thousands of retailers through direct and indirect partnerships, Amazon very much included.
What it does and doesn't change
This is the part worth being blunt about, because it's the whole question.
What it changes
It pays for the work. Reading hundreds of customer reviews, buying products to test, and keeping guides current all takes time that has to be funded somehow. Affiliate commissions are how.
What it doesn't change
What we recommend. We don't link only to brands that pay a commission, and a commission has never moved a product onto a list. If something isn't good, we say so and we don't include it.
Our picks come out of real research: thorough digging, hands-on experience, hundreds of reviews from people who actually bought the thing, social buzz, and feedback from our own readers. Whether we're recommending a gift for your mom, explaining the latest infuser machine craze, or telling you YETI is running an extra 25% off today, the goal is the same. You should be able to trust it.

The rules we follow
We meet the affiliate requirements set by Amazon and Skimlinks, and we follow the disclosure guidelines set by the Federal Trade Commission and other governing bodies. Not because someone's checking, but because a recommendation you can't trust isn't worth publishing.
