Here’s the part nobody selling them leads with: no inside-mounted roller shade truly blacks out a room, no matter what the fabric does. A roller has to be narrower than the opening in order to roll, so light comes around the edges as a halo. If you need real darkness, the fixes are side channels that the shade edge runs inside, an outside mount with a couple of inches of overlap on every side, or a blackout drape layered over the top. Blackout fabric solves transmission. It can’t solve geometry.
What Actually Counts as a Good Blinds Deal

- Measure the window, never the old blind. The blind on your wall already has a factory deduction built into it. Measure that and the factory deducts again, and the new one arrives too narrow. This is the single most common way an order goes wrong.
