The Megasaurus is a $49.99 PAW Patrol truck that inflates a 2.5-foot dinosaur at the press of a button, then swallows it back up when playtime's over. For a 3- to 6-year-old who loved The Dino Movie, it's a great "big gift" with a real wow moment. It's not the best everyday PAW Patrol toy for the money, though. If you just want Rocky and a dinosaur to play with, the $15.97 Dino Rescue Recycler does that for a third of the price.
What It Actually Is

PAW Patrol: The Dino Movie opened in theaters on August 14, 2026, and the Megasaurus is the showpiece of Spin Master's toy line for it. The idea is very preschool-brain in the best way: a regular-looking truck that turns a giant dinosaur loose.
It works like this. Press the light bar on Rocky's truck and a fan inside starts pushing air into the dinosaur, inflating it to 2.5 feet tall in seconds while it plays sounds from the movie. The dino can come off and roll on its own, the 18-inch truck drives on working wheels, and the front claws push obstacles out of the way. When you're done, put the dinosaur back in, close the side panels, and it deflates and folds away inside.
That last part is the underrated feature. A 2.5-foot toy that packs down into an 18-inch truck is a lot easier to live with than a 2.5-foot toy that just sits in the living room.
The $50 Question
Spin Master listed the Megasaurus at $64.99, and it's settled at about $50 at Amazon and Walmart. Here's where it sits against the rest of the Dino Movie vehicles:
| Toy | Price | What you get |
|---|---|---|
| Megasaurus Dino VehicleThe big one | $49.99 | 18-inch truck, 2.5-foot inflatable dino, Rocky |
| Rocky Dino Rescue RecyclerStandard vehicle | $15.97 | 9-inch truck, Rocky, dino figure, claw |
You're paying about $34 more for the inflatable and the size. That's worth it for a birthday or Christmas morning, when the reveal is the point. For a random Tuesday toy, the smaller truck does the everyday PAW Patrol job just as well.
The Good and the Not-So-Good
Where It Delivers
- The wow factor. A dinosaur taller than the kid inflating out of a truck is a great moment.
- Two toys in one: the truck and the dino each have their own way to play.
- It packs away inside itself, so it isn't a permanent 2.5-foot fixture.
- It's sized right for little hands, with a big, obvious button.
Where It Falls Short
- It's an inflatable powered by a fan, so it isn't quiet while it's running.
- Batteries aren't something to forget, and you'll go through them.
- $50 is a lot for one character's vehicle in a line with plenty of $16 options.
- Once the novelty fades, it's a big truck. The inflatable is the whole personality.
Our Read
The Megasaurus does one thing really well: it creates a big, memorable moment for a preschooler who loves PAW Patrol and dinosaurs. That's exactly what a holiday gift should do.
It's less convincing as the PAW Patrol toy a kid plays with every day. For that, the standard vehicles are better value, and they stack up into a whole rescue fleet for the price of one Megasaurus.
What To Buy Instead
Who It's For
Buy It If
- You're shopping for a 3- to 6-year-old who saw The Dino Movie and hasn't stopped talking about it.
- You want the big gift under the tree, the one that gets opened last.
- Your kid loves both dinosaurs and trucks. This covers both.
- You like that it folds away into a normal-sized toy.
Skip It If
- You're shopping for everyday play. Get the $15.97 Rocky truck.
- Noisy toys drive you crazy.
- Your kid is past PAW Patrol. At 7 or 8, this lands flat.
- You hate buying batteries.
What You Should Actually Pay
It sells for around $50, which is already well under Spin Master's $64.99 list price. If it drops into the low $40s around Black Friday, that's a great price for a holiday gift.
