Get ready to have one of the most exciting game night ever thanks to the folks from Hunt A Killer. You’ll be solving crimes Dateline-style before you know it. Here’s everything you need to know!
Our Take:
Since we’ve seen just about every Dateline that ever aired, we knew it was only a matter of time before we jumped on the Murder Mystery bandwagon and, after a ton of research and reading through dozens of reviews, we knew the only choice was going to be the super popular Hunt a Killer brand. If you’re looking for a truly fun and immersive experience, this is the one.

The folks at Bloomberg have estimated that the at-home game market will hit $21 billion (yes, billion) by 2025, which is pretty insane. And currently Hunt a Killer is one of the top top selling and highest rated on Amazon. While we love Amazon (duh!), if you’re going to give Hunt a Killer a try, we recommend shopping them directly at their own site. There are just more options, a variety of plans you can choose, and more.
What we love about them if that they really make this so immersive, fun, and almost real all at the same time. We were actually surprised by how real we felt this was and – at times – kind of difficult, but in a good way. Depending on which plan you choose you’ll get a new box of clues each month that you can comb through until you’re finally able to catch that killer!
So, from a high-level what does it come with?
- The game is told over 6 “episodes” or boxes.
- Each box will come with different clues and even physical items like
- autopsy reports
- witness statements
- photos
- So. Much. More.
Basically this is like an Escape Room delivered right to you home where you can play on your own time and on your own terms. Typically by the 6th episode you’ll be able to solve the case and catch the killer.
Depending on which subscription plan you choose, these boxes can start as low as only $25 and – at times – can even come with a free gift or two, which are typically things to make your game night so much more fun! You can even join groups online to play with more people, get help with clues, discuss the case, and more.
So, if you’re ready to have a really fun family game night(s), date night, or just want to get your friends together to basically play your own Dateline episode, we highly recommend giving Hunt a Killer a try. So fun!
The Deal With Promo Codes:
We’re always asked about coupons and promo code offers for the retailers we review, so we thought we’d tackle this right here. First, yes, Hunt a Killer does accept promo codes at checkout – but this will really only come from them (we don’t offer any discounts here – but if they want to work with us, we’d love that!). In the past we’ve seen some discount codes via their podcast, but either way we recommend to subscribe to their site via email and they’ll keep you in the loop on anything they may be offering that will exclusively come from them.
We have see a recent offer like:
- $15 Off with a Refer a Friend Program – Learn More Here
Not only will you get $15, but your friend(s) will get 30% off their first order, so that’s pretty cool.
At this time we’re not seeing any student, military, or first responder discounts – but if that changes we’ll keep you posted.
